On April 12th , Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Dr. Faisal Al-Miqdad met with the commander of the United Nations forces operating in the Golan ( UNDOF ) , General Ashwar Hamal, and the accompanying delegation.
Minister Al-Miqdad stressed the importance of uncovering the Israeli violations of the Separation of Forces Agreement, represented by its repeated attacks on Syrian sovereignty.
Minister Al-Miqdad expressed Syria’s firm right to retrieve the occupied Syrian Golan up to the line of June 4, 1967, a right affirmed by Security Council Resolution 497 and many relevant United Nations resolutions
Minister Al-Miqdad reiterated his condemnation of the US President’s decisions that ignore the UN resolutions that recognize the Golan as an occupied Syrian Arab land.
For his part, General Hamal stressed the commitment of the UNDOF forces to their mandate given to them by the UN Security Council and monitoring the ceasefire line in the area of separation
General Hamal explained the measures they have taken to redeploy their forces along the disengagement line and to confront the Coronavirus.
The meeting was attended by Dr. Bashar Al-Jaafari, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Brigadier General MazenIbrahim Younes, Head of the Office of the Armistice Delegation, Ambassador Milad Attia, Director of the Department of International Organizations and other officials.
