Putin: Issues related to providing humanitarian aid to Syria should not be politicized

Moscow (ST): Russian President Vladimir Putin stressed in a phone call with German Chancellor Angela Merkel yesterday the need for the issue of humanitarian aid to Syria not to be politicized.

The TASS news agency quoted the Kremlin press service as saying in a statement that Putin and Merkel continued during a phone call to exchange views on the situation in Syria and underlined the need to give priority to the task of improving the humanitarian situation there.

Putin stressed in this context that politicizing issues related to the provision of foreign aid, the reconstruction of the infrastructure and the return of refugees to their homeland is unacceptable.

Regarding Libya, the two sides expressed their readiness to facilitate efforts to restore the situation to normal in this country and agreed to further coordinate their steps in this direction.
