President Al-Assad discusses with Russian delegation bilateral work to reach solution to problems caused by sanctions

DAMASCUS, (ST)_ President Bashar Al-Assad received on Thursday the Russian President’s Special Envoy for Syria Alexander Lavrentiev and the accompanying delegation. 
 
The talks during the meeting dealt with issues of common interest, according to the Syrian News Agency (SANA). 
 
The agency said that the two sides asserted their determination to continue bilateral cooperation and to exert efforts to reach solutions to all problems that have been caused by the policies of some western countries against Syria. 
 
The Russian delegation affirmed that their country supports Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. They in addition asserted that Moscow rejects any step or measure violating this sovereignty and affecting the efforts being exerted to end the war on Syria and to eliminate the remnant terrorist groups. 
 
Other issues related to the meetings of the committee that discusses the Syrian constitution and the pressures being practiced by the US and some western countries to hinder the work of the committee were also on the table. 
 
The two sides underscored that any progress in political track necessitates commitment to the main principles regarding fighting terrorism and preserving Syria’s territorial integrity, stressing that no party has the right to abandon these principles.
