Prime Minister: Supporting the agricultural sector is a strategic goal of the government

Prime Minister Hussein Arnous has stressed that supporting the agricultural sector by all means is a strategic goal of the Syrian government.

He made the remarks during a ceremony held in Homs for launching the work in the Homs-Hama irrigation canalor which has been rehabilitated after a stop for ten years due to terrorist attacks.

The premier pointed out that the canal will secure water to more than 20,000 hectares of agricultural land in Homs and Hama with the aim of supporting and increasing the agricultural production in these two provinces.

He affirmed that the government is concentrating on two main issues – supporting production in all fields and meeting production requirements, pointing out that the agricultural production is very important for many industries.

 Arnous noted the massive efforts exerted by the government to secure the fertilizers and the fuel necessary for agricultural production, stressing that the situation of oil derivatives will witness notable improvement by the end of this week.
