The Suez Canal Authority (SCA) on Saturday announced the end of the jam caused by the six day blockage as a result of the “Ever Given” ship that had stranded the Canal .
Osama Rabie, head of the Suez Canal Authority, said that 422 ships carrying 26 million tons of goods have crossed the canal, praising the authority’s success to end the jam in a record time.
He added that reports indicate that the last group of waiting ships, which numbered 61, crossed the canal today, pointing out that 24 new ships will cross the canal after regular navigation is restored.
He stressed that work has not stopped in order to ensure the transit of all waiting vessels and to receive requests for new ships to cross.
