Russian FM: NATO’s statements about Moscow’s refusal to engage in dialogue with the alliance are false

Moscow (ST): The  spokeswoman for the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, described the statements of NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg that Russia rejects dialogue with the alliance as “false.”

Sputnik quoted Zakharova as saying: “All Stoltenberg’s statements that Russia refuses to engage in dialogue are false. This is a lie,” adding: “A substantive conversation was proposed by experts, including military experts, on a wide range of issues,” calling on Stoltenberg to stop spreading misleading information that claims that Russia refuses to engage in dialogue with NATO.

Earlier, Stoltenberg claimed during a meeting of the NATO Council at the level of foreign ministers that he “regrets that Russia in recent years has not responded positively to the Alliance’s proposals to hold the NATO and Russia Councils, but he will remain open to dialogue and invite Russia to participate in it.”
