Iranian FM: Countries that violate the rights of other countries have no right to defend human rights
Tehran ( ST): The Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has expressed its rejection of the draft resolution against Iran at the 46th session of the Human Rights Council, stressing that countries that violate the rights of other countries have no right to defend human rights.
The Ministry spokesman Sa’eed Khatib Zadeh said in a statement today that the draft resolution adopted by some countries at the 46th meeting of the United Nations Human Rights Council “is politicized and its supporters are among the most severe violators of human rights in Iran and the world as they have imposed unfair sanctions and embargoes against the Iranian people, they provide Saudi Arabia with advanced weapons to be used against the Yemeni people, and they are the ones who have strategic cooperation with the Zionist entity against the Palestinian people and support terrorist organizations in Syria and Iraq.
In the same context, Iran’s ambassador and delegate to the United Nations office in Geneva, Ismail Baqai Hamani, warned of some countries’ exploitation of the Human Rights Council for political and personal purposes.
In a speech at the Human Rights Council meeting, Baqai Hamani denounced Britain’s adoption of a draft resolution at the Human Rights Council on human rights in Iran, noting that some countries do not adhere to any restrictions or frameworks in exploiting human rights for their interests, stressing that countries such as Britain, the US, France, Belgium, Germany and Canada have the upper hand in exploiting human rights to achieve political ends against countries opposed to their policies, and at the same time these countries participate directly in killing civilians and innocent people in Yemen through the sale of weapons to the countries of aggression.
