Mansour demands pressure be put on the Israeli occupation to stop its crimes against the Palestinians
On March 22nd, Palestine’s permanent representative to the United Nations Riyad Mansour renewed his demand for the international community to shoulder its responsibilities and put pressure on the Israeli occupation entity to stop its continuous violations and crimes against the Palestinian people.
Mansour sent a message to the Secretary-General of the United Nations, the President of the Security Council and the President of the United Nations General Assembly.
In the message, Mansour stressed that the time has come to stop the blatant impunity for ‘Israel’, the occupying power, from punishment that undermines any opportunity to reach a settlement for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.
Mansour pointed out that, in conjunction with its aggressive actions against the Palestinians, the Israeli occupation continues to demolish their homes in the West Bank and occupied Jerusalem.
Mansour referred in this regard to the report issued by the Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA), which stated that last February alone the occupation authorities demolished or seized 153 Palestinian properties.
This demolition led to the displacement of 305 Palestinians, including 172 children, and damage to the livelihoods of 435 others.
Mansour indicated that the Israeli occupation authorities delivered eviction notices to residents of Jaloud village in the northern West Bank in preparation for demolishing it and seizing 5,000 dunums of their lands with the aim of Judaizing it.
