Dr. Al-Miqdad: The Sultanate of Oman stands with Syria, and we are fighting terrorism and extremism

Muscat (ST):  Foreign and  Expatriates Minister , Dr. Faisal Al-Miqdad, has affirmed that his official visit to the Sultanate of Oman aims to strengthen the existing relations between the two brotherly countries, and that the Sultanate has stood by Syria and the Syrian people who are  proud of this position.This should be   an example to be followed by other Arab countries that have taken different positions.

In a press statement, Al-Miqdad said: “In Syria, we are fighting terrorism and extremism, and we are working against unilateral coercive measures. The brothers in the Sultanate of Oman have stood by the Syrian people in this field from the beginning of this war on terror until this moment.”

 

 He added that the brothers in the Sultanate of Oman had a distinguished position at all international forums regarding what happened in Syria, and they stood by truth and logic, and stood against terrorism and with the unity of the land and people of Syria. Therefore, this Omani position was respected and appreciated by all Syrians, and we see that this position is being followed and  supported by many countries that were hostile to Syria, because it has been proven to it that the suffering of the Syrians does not serve any of them, and it increases the pain and problems of the region, and that terrorism cannot be confined to a specific place but will extend to all parts of the region and its countries and even beyond the region to Europe and the United States, Africa, Asia and Latin America.

Al-Miqdad expressed Syria’s appreciation of the positions of the Sultanate and the positions of  the late  Sultan Qaboos and the His Majesty Sultan Haitham who is following the same approach, stressing that the Sultanate has provided assistance to Syria to overcome the difficulties created by Western countries that want to starve the Syrian people and force them to accept hegemony.

Al-Miqdad pointed out that the talks with all officials in the Sultanate are encouraging and positive, expressing his hope that the role of the Sultanate during the next stage will be an active role in helping Syria overcome this crisis and restore security and stability in all its areas.
