Syria and Russia: Washington impedes the return of Syrian refugees through its continuous support for terrorist organizations

Syria and Russia have stressed that the United States continues to impede the return of Syrian refugees and the internally displaced citizens to their liberated areas through constantly supporting its mercenaries and using them in carrying out terrorist attacks against the Syrian state and civilians, and it keeps escalating its unilateral sanctions on the Syrians under different names, such as the “Caesar Act”, in a flagrant violation of the international law.

In a joint statement on Thursday, the Syrian and Russian Coordination Commissions for the Return of the Displaced Syrians said that they are working to create suitable circumstances for the refugees’ return and providing all assistance possible for the displaced citizens to ensure their voluntary and safe return to their residence places in their homeland.

The joint statement made it clear that over the past ten years, the United States and its partners have been keen on fabricating information and circulating illogical claims with the aim of controlling social awareness and changing facts on the ground in accordance with the West’s destructive policy towards the Syrian state which is fighting international terrorism. It indicated that through these actions, the American side is trying to downgrade the efforts and sacrifices of the Syrian people who have heroically fought “ISIS” terrorist organization and other terrorist extremist groups for ten years with the support of the Russian armed forces.

The statement went on to say that according to UN data, the level of violence, torture and field execution has increased at the Al-Howl refugee camp, which is located in an area controlled by the US occupation in Hasakah countryside, and this indicates Washington’s failure to ensure security on the lands it occupies.

The statement demanded the US side to stop practicing pressure and destabilizing the social and economic situation in Syria, to lift the illegal sanctions and to withdraw its occupation troops from the Syrian territories.

The statement also urged the international community to stop believing the US accusations against the Syrian Arab Republic, its leadership and people, because these accusations lack evidence.
