Lavrov asserts the need to resolve the crisis in Syria through political process

MOSCOW,(ST)_Russia’s  Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has reaffirmed the need to reach a political solution to the crisis in Syria that respects its sovereignty and territorial integrity.

He said in a press conference held on Wednesday in Moscow that only the people of Syria decide the future of their country without foreign intervention in accordance with the UN resolution NO. 2254.

“The solution to the ongoing crisis in Syria must respect Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity,” Lavrov added, asserting that his country supports reaching a formula that allows the Syrians themselves to decide the future of their country.

He also talked about Russia’s efforts in the Astana format, as well as through other channels, to help resolve various aspects of the crisis.
