Syria is against any foreign interference in China’s affairs: Foreign Ministry

Syria said on Tuesday that it rejects any foreign interference in China’s affairs, stressing that no country or party has the right to interfere in the internal affairs of independent and sovereign states, according to a source at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatiates.

The source told SANA that the government of the Syrian Arab Republic supports the decision of the fourth session of the Thirteenth National People’s Congress of China (NPC) on improving the electoral system of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region.

“The decision is another major step taken by China to improve the legal and political systems in the Hong Kong region following the adoption of the National Security Protection Act last June,” the source said.

“The Syrian Arab Republic rejects all forms of foreign interference in the affairs of the People’s Republic of China and all attempts to distort facts, as this constitutes a blatant violation of international law and of states’ sovereignty over their territories,” the source added.

Syria also emphasizes its support for China’s territorial integrity and sovereignty over its territory and calls for maintaining the country’s security, stability and one-China principle and urges all countries to respect this, the source concluded.
