(ST) – The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates held the Israeli government, headed by Benjamin Netanyahu, fully responsible for the violations of the occupation and its settlers, and for the crime of expansionist colonial settlement and its consequences and repercussions on achieving peace. The Ministry also held the international community responsible for its silence towards those violations that constitute war crimes against Humanity.
In a press statement published yesterday, Saturday, by the Ma’an News Agency, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs condemned the approval of the occupation municipality in occupied Al-Quds( Jerusalem) to build Jewish sites in the Sheikh Jarrah neighborhood in East Al-Quds( Jerusalem) within the framework of an expansionist colonial scheme aimed at evacuating and displacing dozens of Palestinian families and seizing their homes.
The Foreign Ministry also condemned the fact that the occupation authorities once again prevented citizens of the occupied West Bank from entering the Al-Aqsa Mosque. It also condemned the attack by settler militias on a Palestinian family consisting of 8 members in “Masafer Yatta”, which resulted in the injury of a citizen and his wife.
The Foreign Ministry renewed its call for all members of the Security Council to come and see what the occupation state is doing against the defenseless Palestinian people. It invited the Director General of the Human Rights Council, the High Commissioner for Human Rights, the members of the Executive Council of the Human Rights Council, the Secretary-General of the United Nations, and the President of the United Nations General Assembly, to come to occupied Palestine to witness the crimes committed by Israel.
On the other hand, the members of the US Congress called on the administration of US President Joe Biden to condemn the settlement and demolition of Israeli occupation and to take diplomatic measures that would put an end to this policy.
In a letter to the US State Department regarding policy toward Palestine, members of Congress expressed their continuing concern over Israel’s policy of demolishing homes in the occupied West Bank and Al-Quds (Jerusalem).
The members of Congress also called on the US State Department to initiate an investigation into the possibility of Israel using US- made equipment in demolishing operations.
They welcomed the Biden administration’s intention to resume support for UNRWA, saying that, former US President Donald Trump’s decision to stop support for the Palestinians was one of the most horrific US policies against the Palestinian people.
The members stressed that Israel’s continued colonial settlement in the Palestinian lands, including East Jerusalem, in addition to the ongoing demolitions, is another type of the annexation plan which has become a fait accompli. The United States administration should unequivocally condemn this fait accompli, as the settlement is not legal under the international laws.
