Western politicians and academics call for the lifting of sanctions on Syria

Member of the European Parliament for the United Spanish Left and a member of the leftist group in Parliament, Mano Pineda, has said:  “After 10 years of war on Syria, the goals and objectives that those who launched and supported this war have become clear, which is to seize the resources of the Syrian people.”

Pineda called on the European Union to lift the sanctions imposed on the Syrian people and establish a new relationship with Syria that would be beneficial to the Syrian people, and to restore diplomatic relations with it.

Pineda pointed to the failure of regional regimes such as Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Turkey and the Israeli entity, among other countries that the United States of America has always supported in achieving its objectives militarily.

In turn, member of the European Parliament for the Czech Republic, Katrjina Konichna, has demanded an end to the coercive economic measures imposed by the West on Syria.

For his part, American writer Ben Norton published an article in ‘ The Gray Zone’, an independent news website,  under the title “Leaked documents reveal a large-scale Syrian propaganda operation by Western government contractors and media outlets”.

Norton said that the leaked documents show how contractors in the British government have developed advanced infrastructure for propaganda aimed at stimulating support in the West for terrorist organizations in Syria under the name of “armed opposition”.

Norton indicated that the documents revealed how Western intelligence manipulated the role of the media and carefully formulated media coverage in English and Arabic for the war on Syria.
