Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs calls for providing international protection for archaeological sites

Occupied Al- Quds, (ST) – The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs called on the international community to assume its responsibilities and to provide international protection for the archaeological and religious sites in the occupied Palestinian territories.

In a statement carried by Wafa News Agency, the Foreign Ministry condemned the occupation’s seizure of hundreds of Palestinian archaeological sites in the occupied West Bank, especially in occupied Al-Quds (Jerusalem), with the aim of Judaizing these sites, changing its identity, and implementing settlement annexation plans.

The Foreign Ministry stressed that, the silence and inaction of the international community have encouraged the occupation forces to continue their theft of the Palestinian lands and archaeological sites and given them the cover to escalate their crimes and expansionist policies.

The Foreign Ministry called on the international community and the specialized international organizations, led by UNESCO, to assume their responsibilities towards protecting the Palestinian archaeological sites and to hold the occupation accountable for its crimes against the Palestinians.
