Zarif: The American aggression against Syria is a serious violation of its sovereignty and territorial integrity

Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif confirmed that the American aggression on areas in Deir Ezzor near the Syrian-Iraqi border last month is a serious violation of Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.

In an interview with Mardomsalari newspaper, Zarif said, “The step they took against the unity and sovereignty of the Syrian territories was very dangerous, and its result is insecurity in the region.”

Zarif indicated that US President Joe Biden is still following in the footsteps of his predecessor, Donald Trump, by imposing pressure and committing regional mistakes, despite his official recognition of the failure of the maximum pressure followed by his predecessor.

With regard to the nuclear agreement which was signed with his country, he said that it is “a balanced agreement, but the Americans are not used to balanced agreements” noting that the problem of foreign opponents of the agreement was not the nuclear issue at all, but rather trying  to invest in this issue to give security to the Iranian file.
