Maritime security firm: The commercial ship, hit by an explosion in the Gulf of Oman, is an Israeli-owned ship

The maritime security firm “Dryad Global” on Friday said that the Bahamas-flagged ship, MV HELIOS RAY, which was hit by an explosion in the Gulf of Oman on Thursday, was an Israeli-owned ship.

The London-based firm said that the ship was en route to Singapore from Dammam in Saudi Arabia and that the explosion occurred 44nm northwest Muscat, giving no details about a possible cause.

It added that it seems that the ship was returning to the port of origin.
