Minister Al-Mikdad stressed the need for concerted efforts between the Syrian and Iranian sides to confront the common challenges that threaten the security and peace of the region, noting that the unilateral coercive economic measures imposed on the Syrian people have many inhuman effects.

Al-Mikdad underlined the urgency of developing bilateral cooperation between the two countries to enhance the capabilities of the two peoples to confront the illegal US and Western measures, which have become a cheap tool in the hands of some countries with the aim of imposing their will and political plans on independent sovereign states.

Al-Mikdad renewed Syria’s support for Iran’s position on the joint comprehensive plan of action and its refusal to the  attempt of distorting the image of the Iranian position and holding it responsible for the United States’ withdrawal from the agreement.

For his part, Zadeh expressed his great pleasure in his visit to Damascus. He reviewed the latest developments related to bilateral relations between the two countries in various fields, stressing that the Iranian people and leadership attach importance  to relations with Syria in line with the strategic relations between the two countries.

Zadeh renewed his country’s position in support of Syria to reach a solution that would restore security and stability to all Syrian lands and preserve its sovereignty, independence and unity.
