Al-Maliki: The absence of international accountability encourages Israeli occupation to persist in its crimes

On February 22nd, Palestinian Foreign Minister Riyad Al-Maliki said that the international community’s failure to take clear stances and the absence of international accountability encourages the Israeli occupation to persist in its crimes against the Palestinians.

During his speech at the 46th session of the Human Rights Council via video, Al-Maliki said that the occupation continues its attacks and violations against the Palestinian people, their land and their sanctities, especially with regard to the establishment of settlements by seizing more Palestinian lands with the aim of Judaizing them and undermining their right to life.

Al-Maliki pointed out that the Israeli occupation is exploiting the Corona pandemic to consolidate its settlement colonization, as it prevented the entry of necessary vaccines into the occupied Palestinian territory, especially into the besieged Gaza Strip.

Al-Maliki stressed the need for the international community to shoulder its responsibilities and adhere to the principles and rules of international law and the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people to self-determination, independence and return.

Al-Maliki welcomed the recent decision of the International Criminal Court, confirming its jurisdiction and territorial jurisdiction over the occupied Palestinian territory, including Jerusalem.

Al-Maliki called for an urgent announcement of the opening of a criminal investigation into war crimes and crimes against humanity committed and committed by the occupation in the occupied Palestinian state.
