Moscow (ST): Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Vershinin reviewed the situation in Syria with the UN Secretary-General’s special envoy to Syria Geir Pedersen.
The Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement published on its website today that the two sides discussed last night in detail the current situation in Syria within the framework of advancing the political process led and implemented by the Syrians themselves with the help of the United Nations, as stipulated in UN Security Council Resolution 2254.
Yesterday, the Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and Pedersen affirmed that there is no alternative to a political solution to the crisis in Syria within the framework of a process led and implemented by the Syrians themselves on the basis of respecting Syria’s sovereignty and territorial integrity in accordance with Resolution 2254.
