The rehabilitation work of the Bab al-Hadid archaeological station in Aleppo starts

Aleppo, (ST)- In an attempt to restore historical glory and brilliance to the ancient Bab Al-Hadid police station, the guesthouse in old Aleppo again, the rehabilitation workshops of the Directorate of Antiquities and Museums are about to complete its restoration after the damage it suffered because of the systematic destruction of the city by terrorist organizations.

Sakher Olabi, Director of Antiquities and Museums in Aleppo, explained in a statement to SANA that the rehabilitation project, which started seven months ago, at a cost of about SYP 97 million,  is part of the General Directorate of Antiquities and Museums plan to rehabilitate archaeological sites and buildings damaged by terrorism to restore life to these sites and put them into service.

Olabi pointed out that the building is part of a series of buildings that were previously attached to the old gates of Aleppo to protect them, as the Directorate is keen to protect and rehabilitate these ancient buildings according to international specification standards by local and national hands and expertise.

The engineer, Akram Karah Cala, Supervisor of project implementation, said that a restoration study was prepared for the building and work began on it during the month of September of last year by removing the rubble from the place and making use of the archaeological stones in rebuilding its destroyed parts.

The project also included restoring the ceilings as they were before by using traditional twisted and cemented wooden poles, building stone arches for rooms, cleaning the facades with lukewarm water, replacing broken tiles, installing wooden doors and windows and metal fences, Karah Cala added.
