Arab traders have affirmed that Syrian-made clothes enjoy great popularity in foreign markets and they are highly competitive with foreign products in terms of price and quality.
The traders made the remarks during their tour in the “Made in Syria” Export Specialized Exhibition for Clothing, Textile and Production Supplies, which was opened on Thursday in Damascus with the participation of more than 360 companies.
Imad Taleb, a merchant from the Iraqi province of Al-Basra, told SANA that the exhibition contains high-quality goods and a variety of products that compete with international clothing brands in his country’s markets.
“The Iraqis like buying Syrian goods because of their good reputation,” Taleb said, pointing out that he bought various children and women clothes and signed a contract with a company from Aleppo to import a variety of its products.
Also from Al-Basra, merchant Hamed Abdul Latif said that he has been importing cotton underwear from Syria for the past 12 years due to their high quality. He clarified that the circumstances through which the region has passed have impeded the regular delivery of Syrian goods to the Iraqi markets, but this situation is witnessing gradual improvement.
Some other merchants from Iraq emphasized that the Syrian industry has proved its competitiveness in Iraqi markets in terms of designs as well as the quality of the cloth and the sewing, noting that the exhibits meet the various needs of traders.
On his part, Jum’a Idris from Libya said that he visits the exhibition annually and observes the development of the Syrian industry, clarifying that the Libyan citizens welcome the Syrian clothing brands and prefer buying them instead of the products of other countries due to their high quality, competitive price and good reputation.
