Syria’s decision to fight terrorism and back resistance ‘irrevocable’, says al-Zou’bi

DAMASCUS,(ST)_Information Minister has said that the recent media uproar sparked over using chemical weapons, arming opposition, cutting relations, and “Muslims Scholars Union” conference aims but at terrorizing the Syrians.

Omran al-Zou’bi, who was speaking in a ceremony held on Sunday at al-Baath newspaper’s headquarter to honor martyred journalists’ relatives, underscored that Syria’s decision to fight terrorists and to stand by resistance is irrevocable.

“Syria will never be within the US-Israeli group,” the minister said, noting that the imminent failure of the Zionist plot caused the uproar.

National scheme vis-à-vis Zionist scheme

He sees that the ongoing conflict is between a national, civilized and humanitarian  scheme on the one hand and a Zionist scheme, which includes Takfiri scheme, on the other, asserting that Syria stands by the first scheme.

“Victory will not be easy because Syria is confronting those who provide “free army”, al-Nusra Front and al-Qaeda with weapons,” al-Zou’bi said, adding that option of defending homeland and national sovereignty is a final decision.

 Political process

On the other hand, the minister stressed that Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and France have no role to play in bringing about political solution to the crisis in the country.

“Political solution means to sit at negotiation table,” al-Zou’bi said, pointing out that the “Doha coalition” and some inside and outside the “opposition” do not dare to head towards political process.

He made it clear that the political discourse of most of outside “opposition” is dictated by al-Qaeda leaders and those who fund them in the US and France, citing that (France and the US) have lost nothing because Gulf states pay the price of weapons.

“Around 90 of fighters in Syria are Takfiri terrorists and non-Syrians,” the minister said.

 Morsi’s speech ‘ not important’

Commenting on Morsi’s announcement to sever relations with Syria, al-Zou’bi said we hoped that the leader of Muslim brotherhood had announced closure of the Israeli embassy in Cairo. “But such leadership can not adopt such attitude.”

“Morsi’s speech is not important  but  Egypt is important,” the minister said.
