The fourth Arabic calligraphy Exhibition opens in Aleppo

Thirty  artworks representing various forms of Arabic calligraphy  are showcased in the fourth exhibition of Arabic calligraphy hosted by  “Al-Assad”  Gallery of Fine Arts in Aleppo.

The exhibition supervisor and  Head of the Arabic Calligraphy Committee at  the Directorate of Endowments ( Awqaf )  of Aleppo  plastic artist Ahmed Qassem stressed in a statement to SANA   the importance of the exhibition, which included artworks  by  15 amateurs  and professional calligraphers in the city of Aleppo.

On his part , Mustafa Dahhan, Head of the Guidance and Counseling Department at  the Endowments Directorate  underlined that  the exhibition  combines  the Arabic language and the aesthetics of calligraphy within the framework of preserving  Arabic  language .

He believes  that these exhibitions provide an opportunity for a very large number of students to develop their talents and  express their deep- belonging  to their cultural heritage.

Plastic artist Mahmoud Al-Sajer, Secretary of the Fine Artists Union Branch in Aleppo, referred  to the diversity of  artworks in terms of depicting  important artistic experiences and techniques which are important for the participants through the rules and foundations of Arabic calligraphy.

Among the participants in the exhibition is the plastic artist Ayman Amin,  who holds a PhD  in the  Arabic calligraphy,   confirmed his permanent participation in such activities,  indicating his  two artworks in the exhibition displayed  the old Moroccan calligraphy and the old handwriting style. 

The  Arabic calligraphy , according to the calligrapher Ali Al-Zahir,  is  an Islamic art, the interface of the Arabic language  and the father of the arts, because it occupies a high position among the kinds  of artistic creativity.

Among the young participants was Bilal Basmaji, who expressed his love for the hobby of Arabic calligraphy because it is a high-end art that is threatened by extinction.
