Foreign Ministry: Syria rejects the Turkish decision to open a medical college in the town of Al-Rai, northern Aleppo

On February 7th, Syria affirms its total rejection of the Turkish regime’s decision to open a medical college and a higher institute for health sciences affiliated to the Istanbul -based Turkish University of Health Sciences in the town of Al-Rai in the countryside of Aleppo. 

Syria stressed that the Turkish regime’s decision constitutes a dangerous act and a flagrant violation of international law and the United Nations Charter. 

An official source at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates said in a statement that the Syrian Arab Republic rejects the decision issued by the head of the Turkish regime to open a medical college. 

The sources confirmed that this decision constitutes a dangerous act aimed at expanding the Turkish regime’s control over the territories that fall under the sovereignty of the Syrian Arab Republic, which constitutes a flagrant violation of international law and the United Nations Charter.

The source said that this invalid decision constitutes a continuation of the series of illegal measures undertaken by the Turkish regime since 2011 to inflame and prolong the crisis in Syria and support terrorist parties and organizations such as (the Muslim Brotherhood), (ISIS), (Al-Nusra Front). 

The source said that the Syrian Arab Republic affirms that these assaults by the Turkish regime against its sovereignty, including building the so-called (the separation wall), following the Turkish policies in schools, dealing in the Turkish lira, and the opening of a Turkish post office were the excuses behind which this system was concealed to justify its terrorist practices. 

The source said that the practices of the Turkish regime have formed during the past years and are still a flagrant model of disregarding the lowest civilized and moral values, international law and the United Nations Charter. 

The source said that the international community in general and the Security Council in particular must take all the measures stipulated by international law and the United Nations Charter to stop this disgraceful behavior. 

The source concluded that the government of the Syrian Arab Republic renewed its demand from the UN Security Council that it should carry out its responsibilities in maintaining international peace and security to put an end to the crimes of the Turkish regime committed against the Syrian people.
