Syria again demands immediate Security Council action to stop the Israeli repeated attacks against Syrian territories

The Syrian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates on Thursday renewed its call on the Security Council to assume its responsibility, pursuant to the UN Charter, and take immediate and deterrent measures to stop the Israeli repeated attacks on Syrian territories.

In a letter sent to the UN Chief and President of the Security Council, the ministry said that the Israeli enemy, Wednesday evening, fired several missiles from the occupied Syrian Golan towards Syria’s southern region, stressing that these dangerous acts of aggression have become a systematic shameless policy adopted by the Israeli enemy under alleged security pretexts. It added that these security claims will no longer be the umbrella under which the Zionist enemy is hiding to justify its accustomed terrorist behavior.

“The Zionist enemy still occupies our land without any action by the United Nations or the international community to hold it accountable for its incessant brutal crimes against our people in the Syrian Golan, Palestine and other Arab territories that it occupied in violation of international legitimacy, the UN Charter, the international law and human rights agreements,” the ministry clarified.

“Syria reaffirms its strong determination to continue with its principled and steadfast stance towards combating terrorism, including terrorism that is supported by “Israel” and its allies. Syria also reiterates that its army is determined today more than ever to keep steadfast in the confrontation of the remnants of the terrorist organizations countrywide with the aim of protecting citizens and preventing the expansion of terrorism in the region,” the ministry said.

It stressed that the Israeli attacks, which are welcomed by the terrorist organizations and their supporters, won’t succeed in terrorizing the Syrian people or preventing them from seeking victory.

The Ministry renewed Syria’s call on the Security Council to assume its responsibilities towards maintaining international peace and security and take decisive and immediate measures to prevent the Israeli enemy from repeating its terrorist attacks and to oblige it to respect the UN resolutions regarding the agreement on disengagement of forces.

Syria also urges the Security Council to hold the Zionist enemy accountable for its terrorism and crimes against the Syrian people, which flagrantly violate the UN Charter, the provisions of the international law, the Security Council Resolutions 242, 338, 350 and 497, and all international resolutions and documents on counterterrorism.
