Moscow, (ST) – Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov reiterated the necessity of completely eliminating terrorism in Syria and resolving the crisis there in accordance with UN Resolution 2254.
Lavrov indicated during a press conference on Wednesday with his Jordanian counterpart Ayman Safadi that the two sides’ discussions touched on the crisis in Syria and there was agreement on the necessity of the final eradication of terrorist outposts there and the creation of appropriate conditions for the return of refugees and reconstruction.
UN Resolution 2254, issued in December 2015, affirms that the Syrians are the ones who determine the future of their country on their own, without any external interference, and that terrorist organizations are outside any political process.
Lavrov stressed that, the West tried to rescue the terrorists of the so-called “White Helmets” at a time when efforts were focused on liberating lands from terrorists.
He pointed out that the “White Helmets” organization is a Western scheme and was formed with the support and funding of Western intelligence agencies and that its members are active in the areas where Al-Nusra Front terrorists are spread.
Lavrov said that some media reports confirmed that Western countries, including Germany, supported the “White Helmets” organization and allocated a special plane to one of its most prominent members.
The terrorist organization “White Helmets” uses the humanitarian work mask as a cover for its criminal acts in cooperation with the terrorist organization Jabhat al-Nusra, which is spreading in Idlib.
