Citizens in Deir Ezzor protest against the siege imposed by the US-backed SDF militia on Hasakah and Qamishli

Citizens in the Syrian province of Deir Ezzor rally in protest against the siege which has been imposed by the US-backed “Syrian Democratic Forces” (SDF) separatist militia on Hasakah and Qamishli for more than twenty days.

The protestors expressed solidarity with the people in Hasakah and Qamishli and called for an immediate end to this unfair siege.

The SDF militia continues to impose a suffocating siege on the center of Hasakah and two neighborhoods in Qamishli, preventing the entry of vehicles, transportation, food supplies, water tankers and other daily basic needs of citizens into these areas.

The protestors gathered in a main Square in Deir Ezzor and raised the flag of the Syrian Arab Republic as well as placards condemning the aggressive and provocative practices of the US occupation and its agents.

They stressed their adherence to the unity and sovereignty of Syria and affirmed the need to join efforts to expel the American and Turkish occupation forces from the Syrian territories.

Concluding their protest, the participants issued a statement on behalf of the citizens of Deir Ezzor in which they warned the SDF militia against further violations and demanded it to “stop the hideous practices towards the people in Hasakah and Qamishli and to immediately lift the unjust siege it imposed on them and which affects mostly children, women, the elderly and the sick in the two cities.

They affirmed their rejection of the US occupation’s practices which aim at starving the Syrian people and plundering its resources.

The statement stressed that the criminal acts of the US occupation and the SDF militia won’t affect the Syrians’ adherence to national principles, especially maintaining the Syrian State’s full sovereignty over the entire soil of the Syrian Arab Republic.
