4 Palestinians martyred, 71 injured and 225 detained in Israeli raids last month

The Israeli occupation forces’ attacks on Palestinian areas resulted in the martyrdom of 4 Palestinians, the injury of 71 and the detention of 225 during January, 2021, a monthly report by Wafa News Agency said.

According to the agency’s report on the Israeli occupation’s violations against the Palestinian people, their lands and sanctities, four Palestinians, including a minor, were martyred by the occupation fire in the West Bank cities of Bethlehem, Tulkarem and Salfit. The report said that the occupation authorities are still holding the bodies of 256 Palestinian martyrs in secret cemeteries until today, including 71 martyrs whose bodies have been held in refrigerators since 2015, in a clear violation of international laws and conventions.

The report added that 71 Palestinians were injured in separate attacks by the Israeli occupation forces and settlers on the West bank cities and towns last January.

The report pointed out that the occupation forces also detained 255 Palestinians, including 5 children and 3 women, in the West Bank and the outskirts of the besieged Gaza Strip. It indicated that most of the arrests were carried out in occupied Al-Quds, Ramallah and Al-Kalil cities.

The report explained that last month, the occupation authorities announced plans to establish 2600 new settlement units in the West Bank and seized 1008 dunums of Palestinian land in the towns of Azzun, Kafr Thulth and Nabi Elias, to the east of Qalqilya. The occupation forces also demolished 22 Palestinian houses and 36 agricultural facilities and uprooted more than 14 thousand trees in the West Bank.

According to the report, the occupation authorities continued throughout the month of January  to implement their plans to Judaize occupied Al-Quds and dig a tunnel network in the Bab Al-Magharbeh and the Al-Buraq Wall Square areas near the western wall of the Al-Aqsa Mosque. The occupation authorities also impeded completing the restoration and maintenance works in Al-Aqsa Mosque and prevented the Palestinians from entering it, while providing full protection to the Israeli settlers during their acts of storming the mosque more than 50 times.
