The Palestinian Prisoners Affairs Authority renews its call to release the prisoners

On January 31st, the Prisoners Affairs Authority renewed its demand from the international community to put pressure on the Israeli occupation to release the Palestinian prisoners in its detention centers in light of the outbreak of the Coronavirus.

According to WAFA News Agency, the authority stated that 200 Palestinian prisoners have been infected with Corona virus since the beginning of this year, which brings the total number of infections to about 340, most of them in the Negev and Raymond detention centers.

 

The commission’s advisor, Hassan Abd Rabbo, said that prisoners in the Israeli occupation’s prisons are suffering harsh conditions of detention due to the arbitrary practices of the occupation.

The Palestinian prisoners suffer from foremost of deliberate medical negligence, and that their families live in a state of constant anxiety as a result of the occupation authorities ’prevention of visits.

The Palestinian prisoners need  urgent action by international humanitarian and human rights organizations and the Red Cross to put pressure on the Israeli occupation to release prisoners, especially the sick, the elderly and children.
