Moscow (ST): The Russian Foreign Ministry has announced that Minister Sergey Lavrov and his Iranian counterpart Mohammad Jawad Zarif will discuss in Moscow today the settlement of the crisis in Syria in addition to various regional and international situations.
The statement issued by the ministry said that the positions of Moscow and Tehran regarding the crisis in Syria are identical to a large extent, as effective interaction continues between our two states within the framework of the Astana settlement process in Syria.
The statement added that the gradual development of mutually-beneficial cooperation and unifying the great capabilities of both Russia and Iran could not only positively affect the position of the two countries, but could also affect the improvement of the situation in the Caucasus, the Near and Middle East, and create additional conditions to ensure peace and stability there.
Lavrov and Zarif will also discuss the situation in the Nagorno Karabakh region, the joint comprehensive action plan for the nuclear program signed with Iran, in addition to the situation in Afghanistan and the Gulf region.
