Bogdanov, Pedersen discuss preparations for holding the fifth round of the Constitutional Committee on Syria
Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Michael Bogdanov and the UN Chief’s Special Envoy for Syria Geir Pedersen discussed during a phone conversation on Friday preparations for holding the meetings of the Fifth Round of the Syrian Constitutional Committee in Geneva between January 25-29, the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement.
The two diplomats affirmed the importance of continuing the Syrian-Syrian dialogue with the help of the United Nations and reiterated the need to go ahead with finding a solution to the crisis in Syria based on the Security Council Resolution No. 2254.
The ministry pointed out that the two sides are willing to further coordinate efforts that aim at creating a constructive atmosphere for the dialogue.
Meetings of the fourth round of the constitutional committee concluded in Geneva on December 4th, 2020. Head of the national delegation to the committee, Dr. Ahmed Al-Kuzbari, asserted that discussions during the meetings covered several files, including the national principles, the refugees’ return, the rejection of any separatist scheme in Syria and the urgent need to end the humanitarian crisis in Syria.
