On January 10th, the Indonesian Search and Rescue Agency found the wreckage of the Indonesian passenger plane that crashed in the Java Sea yesterday, with 62 people on board.
“ A military ship detected a signal from the ill-fated plane belonging to the Sriwijaya company,” Agence France-Presse quoted Indonesian army chief Hadi Tjahjantu as saying.
Tjahjantu said that divers recovered parts of the plane from under the water and items belonging to the passengers.
The Indonesian Minister of Transport Bodhi Kariya Sumadi announced earlier that troops had been sent to search for the plane, and signals were detected at two points that may have come from the black box.
On January 9th, the Indonesian authorities said that it was most likely that all passengers on the plane had died after the plane took off from the Jakarta capital airport towards Pontianak in West Kalimantan Province.
