Mufti Hassoun and Shahriari discuss ways to confront attempts to distort the image of Islam

 On January 3rd, the Grand Mufti of the Republic, Dr. Ahmed Badr Al-Din Hassoun, met with the Secretary-General of the World Forum for Proximity of Islamic Schools of Thought, Dr. Hamid Shahriari, in Tehran.

Mufti Hassoun and Shahriari discussed ways to confront attempts to distort the image of Islam and eradicate seditions.

Mufti Hassoun stressed the need to work to spread the culture of tolerance, strengthen the spirit of love, and move away from fanaticism and extremism.

 

Mufti Hassoun said that Syria has been working with this approach and intellectual development for many years.

In his turn, Shahriari referred to the importance of cooperation to confront terrorism and the takfiri ideology, and to promote human thought.
