Palestinian Health Minister: The Israeli occupation jails are a fertile environment for the spread of Corona pandemic

The Palestinian Health Minister Mai Al-Kileh has renewed her call on the international community to pressure the Israeli occupation authorities to release the sick and the elderly prisoners from the Israeli jails, particularly in the light of the outbreak of the Corona pandemic.

In a statement reported by WAFA news agency on Sunday, Al-Kileh said that the occupation jails are a fertile environment for the spread of the Corona pandemic due to deliberate medical negligence and the arbitrary practices of the occupation authorities towards the prisoners and their refusal to provide them with medical supplies and sterilization materials to protect themselves from the virus.

The minister noted the incline in the Coronavirus infections among the prisoners, particularly in Al-Negev detention camp, indicating that all the prisoners are vulnerable to infection, which puts their lives in danger, especially the 700 imprisoned patients.

She stressed the need to send an international medical committee to follow up upon the prisoners’ health conditions and protect them from the spread of the deadly virus.
