On the 62nd anniversary of the victory of its revolution, Cuba becomes an icon in the struggle against foreign hegemony

On January 1st,  Cuba marks the 62nd anniversary of the victory of the Cuban revolution and its independence. Cuba became an icon in the struggle against foreign hegemony, rejection of external interventions and a lighthouse guiding the way for the resistance men all over the world.

Syria and Cuba have been connected by  friendly relations and cooperation over decades. These relations are based on unchanged principles, chief among them are maintaining  national sovereignty and non-interference in the internal affairs of countries and supporting the just causes of peoples in face of the US and Western policies of   hegemony in a way that boosts the steadfastness of the two states and achieves the mutual interests of the two friendly peoples.

Cuba has declared its  complete support for Syria  in confrontation of the terrorist war and the economic sanctions imposed on Syrian people, and the attempts of Western and regional powers to impose colonialist agendas on it that run contrary to the interests of the Syrian people. In turn,  Syria continues to support Cuba in confrontation of the US economic sanctions imposed on it.

In 2020, the two states celebrated the 55th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations as they share a viewpoint about the importance of depending on national and local experiences and capabilities in confrontation of  the US and Western coercive measures imposed on the two states.

The two states agreed to further enhance cooperation, consultations, trade exchange and the exchange of official delegations.

In 2018, several agreements were signed between the two states including an agreement for cooperation in the field of pharmaceutical industries and medical equipment.

Cuba also continues to offer undergraduate and postgraduate  scholarships for Syrian students.
