The Syrian Trust for Development wins the rank of international arbitrator at UNESCO

The Syrian Trust for Development won the rank of international arbitrator in the elections of the International Evaluation Commission for a group of non-governmental organizations in the Arab region.

During the 15th session of  safeguarding the intangible cultural heritage of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) held in Paris, three non-governmental organizations were nominated for the seat of the Arab Group.

The Syrian Trust for Development won for a period of two years 2020-2022 within an international evaluation body consisting of twelve members that examines the nomination files submitted by all countries of the world with the aim of including them on the lists of human heritage.

The success of the Syrian Trust for Development as a member of the International Evaluation Commission and its acquisition of the status of an international arbitrator is an important experience that has a positive impact on more than one level.

The Trust’s victory in this site carries great importance in terms of representing Syria in a large international forum and devotes its presence in the field of protecting human heritage in general and Syrian heritage in particular.

This victory allows the possibility of gaining great experience and knowledge in the global human heritage, its documentation, mechanisms of arbitration and evaluation, which allows Syrian cadres to work in this field with great effectiveness.

The assignment of this role to the Syrian Trust for Development within an international organization that fosters culture and heritage also reflects the extent of the culture and development of the Syrian society, especially as it is represented by a civil non-governmental organization.

This victory is the culmination of the efforts made by the representatives of the Syrian Trust for Development in the NGO Forum and the efforts of the permanent delegation and its diplomatic movement to support the nomination of friendly countries.
