Mikdad receives credentials of Sean Francis O’Brien as WFP resident representative in Syria

Damascus, (ST) – The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Dr. Faisal Al-Miqdad received on Wednesday the credentials of Sean Francis O’Brien, Resident Representative of the United Nations World Food Program (WFP) in Syria.

The talks during the meeting dealt with the constructive cooperation between Syria and the WFP and the need to improve cooperation at this stage, especially in light of the negative impacts of the unilateral coercive economic measures imposed by Western countries on Syria in contradiction to International Humanitarian Law and the basic rights of peoples.

The Resident Representative affirmed the continued interest of the World Food Program in continuing the work and constructive cooperation with the Syrian government in a way that contributes to ensuring  the arrival of aid to those in need and helps meet challenges and overcome difficulties.

Minister Mikdad praised the cooperation and trust that has been enhanced during the last period with the World Food Program (WFP) and wished the new resident representative success in his duties.
