Syria has condemned the repeated criminal practices of the Turkish occupation forces against the Syrian people, its sovereignty and territorial integrity and repeated cutting off the water supply from the people of Hasakah.
Syria called on the United Nations Security Council and the United Nations General Secretariat to immediately intervene to oblige the Turkish regime to restart the Alouk water station.
On December 14, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates sent a letter to the Secretary-General of the United Nations and the President of the Security Council saying,
“ Following our previous letters regarding the Turkish violations and its serious and repeated attacks on the sovereignty and territorial integrity of the Syrian Arab Republic, we would like to draw your attention to the fact that the Turkish occupation once again has repeated its crime of cutting the water supply from the Alouk station, which is the main source for securing drinking water for more than a million people in the city of Hasakah and its residential communities.”
“ The number of those breaches until the date of preparing this message has reached 17 since 9-10-2019, which is the date of Turkey’s occupation of the Ras al-Ain area, in which the Alouk station is located. The station has not been operating since 11-30-2020 until now, as part of the exercise of a cheap Turkish policy in an attempt to blackmail the Syrian government and put pressure on it, the Ministry said.
“It has become clear that the Turkish government is carrying out these illegal and inhuman practices to achieve political and military gains, including the implementation of the systematic displacement policy against Syrian citizens in the areas it occupies in order to make a demographic change,” the Ministry added.
The Ministry said that Syria calls on the Security Council and the General Secretariat of the United Nations to immediately intervene to oblige the Turkish regime to respect the most basic rules of international law in this regard, to restart the Alouk water station.
The Ministry concluded its letter by saying: “The government of the Syrian Arab Republic renews its demand for the Security Council to assume its responsibilities in maintaining international peace and security and put an end to the violations of the Turkish regime.”
