NEW YORK- The UN General Assembly has called on the Israeli occupation entity to give up the possession of nuclear weapons.

According to the UN website, the UN General Assembly, during a session discussing a report on “the risk of nuclear proliferation in the Middle East”, voted on a resolution submitted by Palestine and other Arab countries demanding the Israeli occupation entity “not to develop, produce, test or possess nuclear weapons in one way or another. It also called on Israel to give up the possession of nuclear weapons and subject all its nuclear facilities to the comprehensive safeguards of the International Atomic Energy Agency as a key measure to attain peace and stability in the region.

The resolution got the approval of 153 countries. Six countries rejected it while 25 abstained from voting.

The resolution is one of several UN General Assembly-approved resolutions that call for global and regional nuclear disarmament.
