New York (ST): The UN General Assembly has voted with a majority on the Syrian sovereignty over the occupied Syrian Golan and considered all the Israeli occupation measures there as null and void.
About 88 states voted in favour of the draft resolution, eight opposed and 62 abstained. The Resolution demands that Israel, the occupying power, to completely withdraw from the occupied Syrian Golan until June 4th 1967 borderlines and abide by the UN resolutions regarding Golan, especially Resolution No. 497 for the year 1981 which considers Israel’s decision to impose its jurisdiction and administration on occupied Golan as null and void.
The resolution also reminded the international community that all the Israeli measures taken by Israel to change the demographic and geographic status of the occupied Golan are null and void and constitute a flagrant violation of the international law and Geneva Convention.
