Al-Mikdad: Assassinating Fakhrizadeh a terrorist act that should be condemned by the international community

DAMASCUS, (ST)-The Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Faisal Al-Mikdad has stressed that the crime of assassinating the senior Iranian nuclear scientist Mohsen Fakhrizadeh is a terrorist act that should be condemned by the international community.

Al-Mikdad made the remarks during a meeting on Saturday with Iran’s Ambassador to Syria Javad Turkabadi. Talks dealt with regional and international developments as well as means of enhancing Syrian-Iranian relations in all fields.

Al-Mikdad affirmed Syria’s condemnation of the assassination of Fakhrizadeh near the capital Tehran, expressing his anger over this criminal incident and reiterating Syria’s support for the Iranian people and government in the face of enemies’ desperate attempts to undermine Iran’s progress and national scientific capabilities.

He affirmed that the United Nations must assume its responsibilities towards fighting terrorism and abiding by the rules of international law, otherwise, the region will witness more tension.

The minister said that he is confident that Iran will be able to confront such terrorist crimes which are incited by the Zionist entity and those who keep supporting it in practicing international piracy.

On his part, the Iranian ambassador highly appreciated Syria’s condemnation of the assassination crime and its solidarity with his country in these difficult circumstances. He reiterated that Iran will not stand doing nothing regarding such a heinous crime.

The Iranian ambassador emphasized his country’s keenness to further deepen bilateral relations and strategic cooperation with Syria in all domains in order to enhance the capabilities of the peoples of the two countries to face the common challenges.
