Entitled “Spirit of the East, Mosaic”
Homs,(ST)- As part of the Homs Culture Directorate’s celebration of the of Syrian culture Days, the Gabala dancing squad showcased a theatrical show entitled “The Spirit of the East, Mosaic” at the House of Culture. The squad dancers whose ages range between 6 and 23 years old performed with a high level of professionalism, a number of dancing shows in Arab and foreign songs and musical pieces that reflect the spirit of the East and won the admiration of the audience.
Mrs. Afaf Abdullah, head and director of the Gabala dancing squad, said that the squad was founded in 2014, as it derived its name from the Phoenician name of the city of Jableh. The band has performed five dancing shows so far that have been shown on the stage of the Damascus Opera House and on the stage of the Damascus International Fair.
She stressed that the idea of creating this cultural exchange between the governorates was wonderful, as Jableh presents its artistic shows in Homs and Homs performs in Lattakia, and so other artistic groups present their performances in other governorates.
Mrs. Abdullah went on to say, “The idea of (mosaic) “the spirit of the East” is show the integration of civilizations, and how ancient civilizations merged with each other, the Andalusian dance with Spanish flamenco with ballet.
We displayed a group of artistic performances including Damascus, Yahalali Yamali, Hindi, Andalusian, Flamenco and Ballet. Cultures that represent African music and modern in addition to contemporary Korean dance have been merged, which reflects the rapid communication that takes place in life, the transmission of music, the idea of dance and its different rhythm, which depends on fitness, in addition to various songs from the Arab world were also presented.
