Homs, (ST)- The Directorate of Culture in Homs recently held a number of cultural and artistic activities to celebrate the Syrian Cultural Days at the House of Culture including an art exhibition and workshops for drawing, Arabic calligraphy and recycling of some materials to create environmentally friendly items, as well as for use in homes.
The exhibition displayed a group of paintings that some plastic artists participated in,in addition to children’s drawings that dealt with many topics concerned with nature and public life. As for the drawing and Arabic calligraphy workshop, it witnessed a distinguished participation of a group of children who joined the courses organized by the Children’s Department in the Directorate of Culture.
With regard to a book fair, it included about five hundred titles dealing with various intellectual, cultural and literary topics “Poetry, Theater, Story and Novel” in addition to literary critical studies. The discount on most books reached about 60% of the cover price, which is a big discount for the Ministry of Culture publications in an effort to encourage reading and publishing cultural books.
The House of Culture Theater witnessed an artistic concert in which the Baloo and Nirvana troupes participated. The first ensemble presented a dancing performance entitled “Alice in Wonderland” supervised by Alissar Nesstah and Angela Nesstah. The show includes a group of dances that express the dream of “Alissar”, who dreams during her sleep that she will make visits to the wondrous worlds of the world, through the expressive art of dance that the participants managed to portray in a beautiful and expressive way, which clearly reflected the artistic talent they have.
The Nirvana Ensemble performed a number of dancing performances under the title “Hakaya Saghar”, (Children’s Tales) supervised by Bilal Arafeh. The performances were expressive and beautiful, as they won the admiration of the audience.
