Al-Jaafari reads statement to the UN Security Council on the situation in Syria:

-Countries hostile to Syria, especially the US and Turkey, continue to support terrorist organizations

-Governments that boycotted the conference prove their willingness to prolong the crisis in Syria

New York, (ST):  Syria’s permanent representative to the UN, Dr. Bashar al-Jaafari, said that countries hostile to Syria, especially  the US and Turkey, continue with their violations of international law, UN conventions and Security Council resolutions pertaining to the crisis in Syria through supporting the terrorist organizations, separatist militias, committing crimes against the Syrian people and pillaging their resources.

Al-Jaafari  said in a statement that the US occupation and its tools of separatist militias continued their practices aiming at plundering the Syrian state resources. Moreover, the US occupation forces have recently  carried out  excavation works  in Hasaka and stolen large quantities of priceless treasures and gold in the presence of French and Israeli experts at the archaeological site in Al-Malekiyah city and uncovered 12 historic tombs dating back to the Roman era.

He added that the stolen priceless artifacts,  which date back to thousands of years, are being smuggled through northern Iraq and Turkey  to be transported later to other destinations, stressing that these crimes are part of continued ones being perpetrated by the terrorist organization of Daesh with the aim of securing the financial resources for its terrorist acts, and now the occupation troops and their tools replaced Da’esh in this crime.

Al-Jaafari went on to say that the US occupation forces have been trying to legitimize the terrorist organizations affiliated to it through visits and shady agreements signed secretly with US establishments, wondering : is this the way the state which hosts the UN headquarters defend the UN charter and the international law?

In a similar way, al-Jaafari clarified, that after using water resources as a weapon against civilians in Hasaka city and its vicinity, the Turkish regime and its mercenary terrorists plundered water pumps and equipment, stressing that this represents a war crime and a crime against humanity which Erdogan perpetrates in Syria armed with the immunity his allies in NATO have ensured for him.

The Turkish regime’s mercenary terrorists, the Syrian diplomat pointed out, also carried out excavation works in archaeological sites near Ifrin, stole artifacts and smuggled them to Turkey.” Furthermore, the mercenary terrorists looted huge quantities of wheat,  barley and other crops and smuggled them to Turkey as they did previously with Syrian oil, factories, machinery and olive oil which is being sold in the US and European markets as a Turkish product,” al-Jaafari explained.

He reaffirmed  that the political process, facilitated by the UN, is owned and led by the Syrians and that making the work of the Committee for Discussing the Constitution a success requires respecting its principles being agreed upon, in addition to rejecting any external interferences and any attempts by some states to impose timetables, adding that only the Syrian people have the right to determine their destiny.

The Syrian diplomat  also renewed Syria’s condemnation, in the strongest terms, the visit paid by  the US Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo, to the Israeli settlements in the Occupied Syrian Golan and the West Bank on Nov 19th, indicating that this visit proves the complete bias of the current US administration until the very end of its mandate to the Israeli occupation entity at the expense of the international law and UNSC resolutions, especially resolution No. 497, noting that this visit encourages the Israeli occupation to press ahead with its criminal acts, the most recent of which was the Israeli aggression on Syria last night. He  affirmed that this visit would not change the political, geographical or legal status of Golan as an occupied land and as being part and parcel of Syria.

Regarding the International Conference on the return of Syrian Refugees recently held in Damascus on 11th and 12th of November, al-Jaafari stressed that it has constituted an important step to the efforts of Syrian State and its allies to ensure the voluntary, safe and good return of the displaced to their areas and their original residences. It also constituted an opportunity for creating the appropriate atmosphere for pressing ahead with cooperation with partners and friends to reconstruct what has been destroyed by terrorism, noting that the governments which boycotted the conference proved their willingness to prolong the crisis in Syria.

Al-Jaafari clarified that the participating states stressed adherence to Syria’s sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity and expressed rejection of the unilateral coercive measures imposed on the Syrian people and demanded for putting an end to foreign occupation and its criminal practices. The Syrian diplomat expressed Syria’s regrets for the UN’s subjugation to the instructions of the former employee at the US State Department James Jeffery as it only participated in the conference as an observer instead of taking part as an effective partner and support the efforts aiming to improve the humanitarian situation and ensure safe return of the refugees.

In response to the statements made by representatives of some western states, al-Jaafari said that these statements did not include any mention of terrorism in Syria and the necessity of combating it according to the UN resolutions. They didn’t also include any condemnation of the Israeli aggression which occurred twice during the past few days as if it had no relation to the escalation of  tension.

Responding to the Turkish representative, al-Jaafari said,” The statement of the Turkish envoy was misleading because from the very beginning of the crisis in Syria, Turkey has opened its borders with Syria before thousands of terrorists coming from all parts of the world, adding that the first chemical experiment was conducted in the Turkish Ghazientab city by members of al-Nosra terrorist organization.

Concluding his statement, al-Jaafari said that former Qatari Prime Minister Hamad Bin Jasem admited in a televised speech that Washington asked the Qatari regime to sponsor terrorism in Syria  in coordination with the Saudi regime and he confessed that Qatar spent 137 billion $ to undermine stability in Syria.
