Athens calls on the Turkish regime to stop the illegal excavations in the Mediterranean

On November 23rd, the Greek government called on the Turkish regime to immediately halt the decision to extend oil and gas exploration operations on the Greek continental shelf in the Mediterranean Sea.

“The illegality of the Turkish marine hydrographic service that issued the navigational notification. the notification was issued by an unauthorized station and related to illegal activity in an area covering the Greek continental shelf,” Russia Today quoted the official spokesperson for the Greek government, Stelios Petsas as saying.

The Turkish regime continues its provocative steps in the eastern Mediterranean, where it revealed through a map it published its ambitions to explore for gas in areas off the coast of Greek islands.

The Greek government sends messages to all parties saying that the Turkish regime is violating the law of the sea, which undermines peace, security and stability in the region.

The Greek government said that the Turkish regime blatantly ignores the calls of the international community and the European Council to avoid illegal actions that lead to escalation of tensions.
