Government and local community’s efforts contribute to rehabilitating three damaged schools in Daraa countryside
DARAA, (ST)- Joint efforts by government institutions and the local community in Khirbet Ghazaleh town in Daraa countryside have contributed to the rehabilitation and restoration of a number of schools and public facilities that were damaged because of terrorism. The efforts also resulted in digging drinking water wells.
The rehabilitation works covered three schools in Khirbet Ghazaleh area, according to Radi al-Wanni, Head of the School Buildings Department at the Daraa Education Directorate.
On his part, Head of the Council of Khirbet Ghazaleh town Mohammad Ibrahim al-Falah said in a statement that the local community managed to collect donations to contribute to restoring the three schools. He added that the local community also helped restore part of the damaged Agricultural Cooperative Bank branch with the aim of facilitating the farmers and citizens’ transactions.
The local community’s donations also helped in equipping Khirbet Ghazaleh’s automated bakery that was damaged because of terrorism, and in digging three wells for drinking water, al-Falah added.
On his part, Eng. Osama al-Qadri, Deputy Director of the Water Establishment in Daraa, said that the establishment will provide electrical and mechanical equipment for the three wells, stressing that putting the wells into service will solve the problem of water shortage in the town.
