HASAKA, (ST)- The Hasaka branch of the Syrian Arab Red Crescent (SARC) on Saturday held various activities marking World Children’s Day.
Children from the Social Services Unit Center in Hasaka city took part in the artistic and cultural activities which included songs, a theatrical show, entertainment competitions, poetry and an exhibition for handicrafts produced by children.
Director of the Hasaka SARC branch Ilaf Al-Hammoud told SANA reporter that these activities aim at creating a safe space and an atmosphere of entertainment for children, especially those with special needs. He pointed out that the branch-affiliated centers in the camps and makeshift housing places hold regular activities that focus on psychological, health and social support for children and try to help them overcome the negative repercussions of the war circumstances during the past years.
On her part, Marwa Amoura, Coordinator of the social services unit at the SARC branch, said that the activities were held in cooperation with the Danish Red Cross to support children, noting that the events focused on children’s rights through artistic works that introduced the talents of participating children.
