About 400 Palestinian children and minors are detained in the occupation prisons, says Palestinian Prisoner’s Club

Occupied al-Quds, (ST) – The Palestinian Prisoners Club announced that about 400 Palestinian children and minors are detained in the Israeli occupation prisons.

The Palestinian News Agency, Wafa News Agency, quoted a statement issued by the club today on the occasion of International Children’s Day that, 11 minors were issued with administrative detention orders, including six underage girls, and that a number of minors and children were shot with bullets during their arrest.

The statement indicated that the current year witnessed hundreds of arrests carried out by the Israeli occupation among children and minors, as the number of children who have been arrested since the beginning of last October reached about 700 children and minors.

The statement pointed out  to  the suffering of children and minors in the occupation prisons as a result of the methods used against them, including direct and deliberate firing of bullets at children, taking them to interrogation centers, arresting them for a day or two, and keeping them without food or drink, in addition to the use of severe beatings, threats, and extracting confessions from them under pressure and threat.

The statement brought to mind the case of the child, Ahmed Manasra, whose case was documented through video clips the world witnessed, including the moment of his arrest and the insults and torture that accompanied him, as well as the video filmed for him inside the interrogation room.

The prisoner club renewed its demand for international institutions, especially institutions concerned with child protection, to take a stance on the crimes of the Israeli occupation and seek to press for the release of Palestinian children.
