Morales regains leadership of the ruling party of ‘Movement for Socialism’ in Bolivia

On November 18th, former Bolivian President Evo Morales announced that he had regained leadership of the ruling party of” Movement for Socialism”.

Morales founded the Party after his return to the country a week ago.

“After evaluating the election results and other issues, it was unanimously agreed that I would assume the leadership of the Movement for Socialism,” AFP quoted Morales as saying at a press conference in Cochabamba.

Morales added that he called a meeting of party officials next week to discuss the upcoming local elections in March.

 Bolivia is currently governed by a former economy minister in the government of Morales Luis Arce, who won the run-off election last month.

Former Bolivian President Evo Morales returned to his country a week ago, amid a massive public reception after a year of exile in Argentina.
